Steve's U.S. album debut is an ambitious homage to his bold and brave Scottish ancestors. Keyboards and synthesizers provide  adventurous backdrops and contemporary music merges with the spirit of the past to create this unique musical document for all ages. The traditional Scottish melodies "Loch Lomond," "Scotland the Brave" and "Wild Mountain Thyme" together with his new material salutes their proud heritage and looks forward  to the future. This CD features the music video "All You Can Know," photos, and an interview.

Winner of Celtic Album of the Year

Steve continues sharing the history of Scotland and the Celtic culture with us through this album. It includes twelve tracks layered in his trademark harmonies and lush instrumentation. The powerful yet beautiful songs take listeners on an emotional adventure. Through his lead vocals, along with percussion, cello, violin and guitar we are taught some of the mysteries of Scottish legends and history. From the

beautiful renditions of the traditional Scottish ballads "Auld Lang Syne," and "Skye Boat Song" to "Fallen Flowers," listeners will be mesmerized and enlightened. Featuring guitar by Dan McDonald.

Celtic Album of the Year 1st runner up.

This evocative story in song traces the heartrending demise of the Highland Clans.  An epic tale of loss and indestructible spirit, it is a dramatically beautiful album. With the use of lush instrumentation and perceptive lyrics, Steve describes a very dark period in Scottish history, a time of forced exile for a great number of Scots. Like his previous releases, Highland Farewell combines contemporary elements with the truths of the past to create music that has a powerful impact on listeners.

Celtic album of the Year winner in 2 categories

Travel to the beautiful highlands of Scotland this holiday season. Singing together with soulful songstress Hollie Smith, the two complement each other strikingly. Backing up their emotive voices is a blanket of lush instrumentation that varies from bells to bodhran, and a host on winds and acoustics that make for a true Celtic celebration! In addition to the traditional fare, Steve lends his own writing talents on the memorable track "Christmas time again."

Over 55 minutes of amazing Celtic music, celebrating the true spirit of the Highlands! Featuring award winning artists Steve McDonald, Matt Ender and Hollie Smith, plus newcomer Darby DeVon. Find yourself on the Isle of Skye, as you listen to classic Loch Lomond, Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace. Revel in the beautiful sounds of new favorites. Gone, Ancient Isle and Quest for  Lai Fail. Move to the Celtic heartbeat of Sons of Somerled, Per Mare Per Terras and Stone of Destiny. 13 songs, including two cuts from Steve McDonald's 2000 release, Highland Farewell.

Showing once again just how proud he is of the Scottish blood that courses through his veins, Steve McDonald offers another must-have album of passionate singing and dramatic arrangements for his legion

of fans. Recounting regional history and folklore, Legend tells poignant tales of his ancestors and the struggles they faced. Set to contemporary instrumentation like guitars, vigorous percussion, violins and keyboards, Stevens beautiful singing will send shivers down your spine. He has a way of really accentuating the emotional impact of the events he sings of. Highlights include "Flodden Field," a tragic tale of one of Scotland's most tragic battles, and "Valley of the Weeping" which features by

Hollie Smith.

A blurb from Steve

“At last (he says with a deep breathe and a sigh) Ballads & Battles is finished and has been released shortly. I hope you like it. A little note: there is a track on the CD titled "Land of our Dreams" this is a song I wrote as a possible theme song for the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I sent it to Peter Jackson but never heard back, but apparently they had decided to use the Annie Lennox song very early in production so there was never really any hope they would use it. Just didn't want it to go to waste.
